Description: SYNERGY-NET on http://metro.turnpike.net/~pflaump Sunday, July 28, 1996 RE: Internet 101 http://metro.turnpike.net/~pflaump INTERNET 101 - the beta Class The beta test of the on-line seminar for Internet 101 is ready to go. We will accept about 15 students, almost full as of today. There will be 15 lessons, about 3 hours a week for 15 weeks. The beta class is free, including the necessary software. You will need at least, LSP ( local server provider ), Windows 95, a 489 60 Mtz, ( means at least 8 Mb of RAM) with 30 Mb of disk space. ( Gold ) Session One - will set up NET MEETING The IP configuration: Well, some of you know all about this - others don't it's the nature of things. But it's basic to understand a little how the packets of information are addressed so they find their way from you to me. My address on the internet is 199.70.196.196 at the moment since I don't have a fixed IP number. ( one is assigned by my server evertime I sign on) which is the IP ( Individual phone number assigned to this PC so all the messages, packets, can come from your machine and find me here ) the Domain DNS from ATT worldnet my service provider is 204.127.129.1 there is a little IP configration program I will but the the data files on the synergy site 207.100.23.68 then synergy /Internet101 /programs. so you can check your machine data. I can also look up reg. IP using ping programs. NETMEETING ( once it has the dynamic IP from the server board ) then pings my machine and establishes a route from one PC to another. Some IRC chat programs do the same thing.
