Description: Greenwich evolved from the International Institute for Advanced Studies, one of the oldest nontraditional graduate schools in the United States, which still exists as part of Greenwich. The unique Greenwich model of education, matches each student with a specially selected faculty mentor who guides the studentıs program of independent study. The mentor supports the studentıs learning in the sense of discussing and exploring the academic material, pointing out the best route for learning, helping students locate appropriate learning resources, arranging effective field placements, networking students with colleagues and advisors, and helping them make best use of personal learning environments and the wider educational community. Students are supported in not only acquiring the theoretical foundations of their discipline, but also the advanced practical knowledge and professional sophistication needed for career advancement and success. Together, student and mentor personalize a study program by reconciling the studentıs academic and professional background, career interests, and learning style, against the protocols and standards established by higher education. Each studentıs degree program is culminated by a major paper, thesis, dissertation or final project. Credit consideration is given for prior learning, non-college training, and professional certification.
