Description: The Institute of Global Education, a United Nations Non-Governmental Organization operates in cooperation with many universities and Project NatureConnect. It offers Integrated Ecology and Applied Ecopsychology distance learning certification and degree programs and accredited, transferable academic and professional courses. Uniquely, they blend wellness, environment and psychology to stimulate academic and social participation and reverse apathy. In the classroom, or at home, they let the enjoyment, beauty and wisdom of the natural world enhance our daily lives through hands-on experiences in educating and counseling with nature. Students learn how to produce thoughtful, sensory connections with nature that reduce stress, recycle our thinking and build responsible relationships. They discover how to create moments that let Earth teach. Internationally, the Institute provides a supportive ever-growing network of trained, experienced individuals and nature-connected instruction. It produces books, self-guiding training manuals, workshops, internships, interactive internet sites, support groups, financial assistance, degree programs and free, credit-optional courses. The Institute recognizes that people are part of nature, yet nature, in its wisdom, does not exhibit our runaway personal, social and environmental problems. The nature-separated way we learn to think and relate, not nature, produces our insensitivities and irresponsibility. Society too often programs us to think and relate verbally, through words and stories alone. We don1t learn how to touch, celebrate and think in congress with the 53 inherent, sensory ways and intelligences of nature within and around us. We seldom honor that nature and Earth are intelligently, beautifully, illiterate.
