Institution, a not-for-profit organization engaged in a variety of
educational and cross-cultural issues. Laurasians are architects of
learning environments in which people of different cultures engage one
another with quality and meaning. The Laurasian Institution was founded
on December 13, 1990. It is incorporated as a not-for-profit
organization in the State of Illinois and has been granted tax-exempt
status by the United States Internal Revenue Service. The vision of The
Laurasian Institution was crafted by a meeting of all Laurasians in
May, 1995 and adopted by the Board of Directors in August, 1995: We
seek to become the world's leading architects of environments in which
people of different cultures collaborate toward quality and meaning.
The mission of The Laurasian Institution was crafted by the founders of
the organization in the autumn of 1990: It is the mission of The
Laurasian Institution to: Examine and seek to understand the cultural
foundations of economic, political, and social policy, Develop
individual competency in dealing with and among diverse cultures,
Encourage realistic and mutually beneficial methodologies of dealing
with cultural diversity, Create educational programs and coalitions to
communicate and further the foregoing, Give particular attention to the
cultural interaction of Asia, North America, and Europe. The purpose of
The Laurasian Institution is articulated in the Articles of
Incorporation filed in December, 1990:
