Description: The New Jersey City Univesity Continuing Education Department is pleased to make available on-line graduate level courses designed to meet the needs of busy educators who do not have the time or inclination to participate in traditional on-campus coursework. These courses may be conveniently taken from the participant's own computer. The format will consist of weekly lessons which will be posted to each course's home page on the World Wide Web. A listserv will offer a forum for discussion and clarification of assignments through e-mail. Each class will also have its own Web Board which will provide an additional opportunity for discussion and class interaction. The courses carry three graduate credits.In addition,provides each registered on-line student with a free online tutorial.This CyberPrimer is designed to provide students who have never taken an online course with the skills necessary for participating in a web based course experience. These include: sending and receiving e-mail and attachments, communicating via listservs, downloading software, using web browsers and search engines, and using WebBoard 3.0, the course conferencing system. Students are encouraged to complete this self-paced CyberPrimer at least one week prior to the start of classes. Students planning on taking on-line courses the University must meet the following minimum hardware/software requirements:Mac or PC with at least 16 megs of RAM and modem with baud rate of at least 28.8 bps Account with an Internet Service Provider Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer - versions 3.0 or later. Some courses may have additional hardware and softwarerequirements or prerequisites.
