Description: Training Solutions, Inc. (TSI) and Nortel (Northern Telecom) have established an Interactive Distance Learning (IDL) Consortium comprised of organizations interested in continuously developing, delivering, and sharing cost effective, quality IDL training programs. TSI is the primary sponsor of the IDL Consortium. The IDL Consortium invites organizations interested in subscribing to programs and/or producing training courses to join the Consortium at no cost. An organization does not have to be a member of the IDL Consortium to subscribe to broadcasts. However, only IDL Consortium members may participate in planning, developing, and broadcasting the Consortium's training programs. Consortium members are given the first opportunity to subscribe to courses. Members may also elect to produce and broadcast programs from their facilities or other members' sites. Organizations producing IDL programs in cooperation with the Consortium will benefit from revenues generated from third party subscribers. Any member organization which produces a program should be able to significantly reduce costs associated instructionals materials development and delivery of training to employees. Consortium members receive regular IDL program announcements describing training broadcasts being sponsored and produced by other member organizations. Presently, the Consortium is sponsoring several programs to be broadcast via 384 Kbps codec signal featuring two-way audio/video. Nortel is producing courses for the Consortium focusing on networking and telecommunications technologies. The Consortium expects to begin offering a wide variety of programs of interest to business, academia, and government agencies.
