Description: The goal of the VSM is to provide anyone with access to the internet,
i.e. individuals, technical schools, junior colleges, universities, and
industry, with world class manufacturing education on demand. Emphasis will
be primarily on design, manufacturing and management processes, and
technological innovations necessary to develop commercially superior
products. We will discover, deduce, and reduce to practice the capabilities
required to achieve global manufacturing education excellence by
1. Making a full range of manufacturing specific courses and instructional
materials available remotely on demand.
2. Collecting available manufacturing related educational materials.
3. Cataloging references to additional instructional materials and classes.
4. Assisting others in developing, locating, and offering distance courses.
5. Providing equal access to the best instructors in the world.
6. Providing a forum for others to make skills, materials, resources available.
7. Cataloging manufacturing education schools, scholarships, internships, etc.
8. Providing electronic interviews, resumes, and job postings.
9. Encouraging collaboration among educators, industry, and government.
10. Encouraging global thinking and collaboration.
11. Facilitating global communication and educational experiences.
