Description: The Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS, formerly VTAE), through
the Independent Learning delivery system of UW-Extension, sponsors WTCS
credit courses by correspondence study. This service represents only
one of the many alternative ways persons can acquire vocational or
technical instruction. The Wisconsin Technical College System,
through its sixteen districts, provides postsecondary occupational
programs. These programs are collections of courses designed to enable
adults to enter the workforce or to be retrained for new occupational
opportunities. Through these courses and programs, adults can obtain
the knowledge and skills necessary for employment at technical,
paraprofessional, skilled, or semiskilled occupations.
