mode because this suits their lifestyle or family and work commitments.
No on-campus attendance is required in units offered externally. At
present some 4,000 Edith Cowan University students are studying
externally. Many reside in Perth and regional areas of Western
Australia. About 40 per cent of the students live in other Australian
states and overseas. They are attracted to Edith Cowan University by
the quality of the external programme and the professional orientation
of such courses as Nursing, Library Technology, Police Studies,
Business Studies, and Education.

the most innovative and original centres of higher education in both
Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. From an initial enrolment of
363 in 1961, the university's population has grown to 46896 across its

within easy reach of the majority of Victoria's population, with five
