Description: Acadia University is one of Canada's oldest and most distinguished
universities, and has a long tradition of offering accessible education
dating back to its beginnings in 1838. Its founders believed in the
principle of equal access. Acadia was the first university in Nova
Scotia to offer educational opportunities to students regardless of
religious denomination, and in 1884 became only the second institution
in Canada to graduate a woman, Dr. Clara Bell Marshall. Most
importantly, over its 150 year history, Acadia has earned a widespread
reputation for academic excellence as it has pursued the goals of
accessibility. Acadia stands firm in its commitment to a liberal
education with all degree programs requiring courses from both arts and
science. More than 200 different curriculum combinations are available
to students. Acadia maintains an enrolment of about 3500 full time
students, ten percent of which are international students. An
additional 1000 students access the resources of the university through
distance education programs.

Description: eginning with the Columbia Video Network program is easy: no transcripts, formal applications, or GRE
scores are required for a student's first semester. New students with a strong engineering background need
not matriculate into a degree program before beginning their studies. The non-matriculated student is
assigned the status of Video Special (VS) and may take courses for credit or audit immediately. Through

Description: As one of the first universities in the nation to offer videotaped
credit courses for practicing engineers, Iowa State University has 27
years of experience working with off-campus graduate students. The
College of Engineering currently offers fourteen master's degree
programs. A new degree program, known as the Master of Engineering in
Systems Engineering, was launched in 1995. This program is designed to
provide a professional degree opportunity for engineers employed in a
wide variety of industries. Courses are the same as those offered on
campus, carry residential credit, and are taught by Iowa State faculty
members. Credit earned in off-campus courses becomes a part of your
academic record at Iowa State and may be used to meet degree
requirements.
