Description: Acadia University is one of Canada's oldest and most distinguished universities, and has a long tradition of offering accessible education dating back to its beginnings in 1838. Its founders believed in the principle of equal access. Acadia was the first university in Nova Scotia to offer educational opportunities to students regardless of religious denomination, and in 1884 became only the second institution in Canada to graduate a woman, Dr. Clara Bell Marshall. Description: As one of the first universities in the nation to offer videotaped credit courses for practicing engineers, Iowa State University has 27 years of experience working with off-campus graduate students. The College of Engineering currently offers fourteen master's degree programs. A new degree program, known as the Master of Engineering in Systems Engineering, was launched in 1995.
