Description: The Open Learning Unit (OLU) is a specialist advice and support service. It was created in
September 1993 in response to a rapid rise in the number of Distance Learning courses at the
University of Wales, Aberystwyth . At the Department of Information and Library Studies alone we
have over 300 Distance Learning students on a range of Masters and Undergraduate programmes.
