Description: Phoenix Union High School District created Phoenix Special Programs in 1926. It was created to educate students who worked in agriculture. The students would arrive to school late in the year after harvest and leave early for the planting season. The School District used traditionial paper and pencil correspondence materials to educate these students.

In 1969, it became chartered by the state of Arizona as a private nonprofit organization and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Today, Phoenix Special Programs and Academies annually serves over 10,000 school-aged youth and adults throughout the world!
